Identity Theft-Do you know who you are?

Identity theft is a growing problem in the states right now and it's an even bigger problem in the Body of Christ. Countless Christians are wandering around without knowing who they are. I have been in that situation before and it is puzzling to say the least. There are times in our walk with the Lord that we are clear on our role and purpose. There are other times that all of that becomes very fuzzy. We like to live the life of me and Jesus. It's private and manageable and we have control. That kind of life style suits us often but is a dangerous path.

We really don't know who we are all by ourself. We are clearly defined by the folks around us. If there are very few around you then your purpose and fulfillment in life can drop dramatically. Sometimes there is a desire to avoid people because they cause so many problems. I know this because I have been known to cause a few myself but that's what you get when you become family.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:

1. 1 Corinthians 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

When we are saved we are "Baptized by one Spirit into one body". That means that you are saved into something much bigger than "me and Jesus". You are a part of a whole. You cannot function alone. A severed finger lying on the sidwalk is a pretty gruesome sight. Members of our physical body need to be connected and that also applies to the Body of Christ.

2. Revelations 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Some day the one who ridicules and blames us before God will be cast down but until then he and his army are out to steal our real identity. Many Christians don't acknowledge the battle and become easy pickins'. Our identity in Christ empowers us to do the things that Jesus does.
