When I run out of me.....

How many times have you come to your wits end and have to admit to yourself that there is nowhere else to go? We all have knocked ourselves out over something at one time or another. Little children are great illustrations of this. I would often see my kids having fits of frustration when they were growing up. Sometimes pride would let them go a little bit longer before getting to the end of their rope and then the boiling point was reached and their little hearts would explode in anger. They would then come running to mommy or daddy for help. At least they knew where to go for help. As we grow older we do the same things only many of us to do it incognito. We disguise our frustration and don't want anybody to know that we have any. That's not good. In fact it is unhealthy.

I used to know a guy named Joe that wore his emotions and feelings out on his sleeve so that everybody could see them. I actually found him to be refreshing because I knew who he was at all times. He was a real person. He was not a phony. He actually was a very good leader because of this. People could see how he worked his way through things. He did it by calling on others for help. He became very resourceful with what he learned and gladly passed it on to others.

Successful people usually fall into spiritual laws created by God without ever understanding or acknowledging Him. Joe for example, was good at confessing his faults and shortcomings to others. The Bible teaches us in James that this type of openness with each other is a pathway to healing. Joe did this in his life and he received the blessings and benefits of one of God's spiritual laws by confessing his faults to others.

James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

The human race moves in and out of God's spiritual laws and principals all the time but most are oblivious to the fact that these wonderful blessings are a part of His design. If you are at the end of yourself, that is good. Go to others and enjoy the healing balm of friendship. I have never more realized the value of true friendship than I do right now. James Taylor had a huge hit song called You've got a friend. When I run out of me I often think of the lyrics to this song.

You've Got a Friend
James Taylor

When you're down and troubled And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,And you know where ever I am I'll come running, oh yeah baby to see you again.Winter, spring, summer, or fall, All you have to do is call and Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah. You've got a friend.

If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.

You just call out my name and you know where ever I am I'll come running to see you again.Winter, spring, summer or fall All you got to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend? People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
Ill come running to see you again.

Oh babe, don't you know that,Winter spring summer or fall,Hey now, all you've got to do is call.Lord, Ill be there, yes I will
You've got a friend You've got a friend

Ain't it good to know you've got a friend. Ain't it good to know you've got a friend. You've got a friend.
